Clean It Up: All Natural Homemade All-Purpose Cleaner

All the organizing and cleaning during the January Cure had me going through my cleaning products like wildfire.  Luckily I make my own all-natural homemade cleaners which are healthy and inexpensive.  I've already shared my recipes for liquid laundry detergent, powdered laundry detergent and lavender room spray.  In addition to those great cleaners, I also use an all-purpose spray to get all my surfaces sparkling clean.  Like all cleaners - you can add essential oils to give your home a fragrant boost.

All-Purpose Cleaner:
  • 28 oz spray bottle
  • 3 tsp. borax
  • 1/2 tsp. liquid castille soap (like Dr. Bronner’s)
  • hot water
Mix all together in the spray bottle then shake what ya mama gave ya.  This cleaner is safe on all surfaces and works great.  I used it on some tough stains (FYI:  coffee and unsealed grout Do.Not.Mix.)  Not to mention, it smells great!

So are you a loyal commercial brand cleaner or have you dabbled in some homemade versions?  What's your favorite?

DIY // Homemade All-Natural Liquid Laundry Detergent

I've just used the last of my supply of powdered all-natural laundry detergent and it worked great.  Rather than just refilling, I thought I'd try out the liquid version and boy, do I like it!  First off, both the powdered and liquid detergents are HE safe.  Second, it makes so much more for about the same cost and Third, you can add scent to it.  {I added lavender essential oil}. I think I'm a homemade liquid detergent convert!

14 Days of Valentines: Day 9 Love Those Hands Sugar Scrub

It's day 9 of 14 Days of Valentines, a countdown to Valentine's Day one craft at a time.

After all this crafting, my hands are beat!  It's time to show these creative geniuses some love.  This Lemon Sugar Scrub is the perfect cure to get my hands back to perfection (Minus the lack of fingernails.  Sadly, I'm back to my ol' biting habit.) Making your own sugar scrub is inexpensive, incredibly simple and it gives you the same beautifully soft results (without any harmful chemicals), so you won't have to make those wildly expensive beauty purchases anymore...well, at least in the sugar scrub department.

Lemon Sugar Scrub Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Olive Oil
  • 4 tbsp Lemon Juice (or you could use an essential oil)
Mix all ingredients together and store in your desired container.  Mine is a vintage Le Parfait french canning jar.  Yep, a goodwill find!

Day 9 down, 5 to go!
