It's been a few months since I gushed on social media about an exciting new opportunity and then all was silent....I am so excited to FINALLY be able to share the news.  We're working with Apartment Therapy and contributing to their Renovation Diary feature - we'll be chronicling our DIY renovation from start to finish...all the good and the bad!

Luke's Room Featured on Apartment Therapy

Man, I love room transformations - and this is one of my favorites.  Remember when I took Luke's room from boring to fun last summer?  Well, it's being featured over at Apartment Therapy today. 

I still love this room - and it's still exactly as it was a year or so ago (after I mounted the magnetic board) but that's all about to change.  Our two boys (yes, there's another fun little boy on its way!) will be sharing this room.  We have some fun updates in the works (like a bunkbed similar to this or this) to utilize the space and make it perfect for both an infant and toddler, so stay tuned!

Featured on Apartment Therapy's My Bedroom Retreat

Man, I am one tired lady - with starting a new job (I scored an awesome Registrar job at the same school as the hubs), taking care of a high-energy toddler and coaching track I have had absolutely no energy to dedicate to the blog.  I definitely need to recharge because I love DIY-ing and sharing my little adventures with you.

In the meantime, why don't you pop on over and take a look at Apartment Therapy's My Bedroom Retreat Contest and vote for yours truly.  Our tiny little bedroom, which I updated this past summer, made the cut amongst a bevy of beautiful bedrooms.  I'm so honored and excited that our humble, little room was chosen and can't wait to see all the other rooms!

Looking back at these pictures makes me want to get busy on getting the upstairs fixed up. Hopefully I can muster up some motivation soon because our To-Do list is neverending!  Have any energizing tips for a working Mom?  Aside from caffeine, that is - I'm already a coffee addict!

Open Shelving: Perfect Timing, Apartment Therapy.

Have you guys been considering folowing the "open-shelving" trend?  Well, we sure are.  We're not taking any cabinets out, by any means, just building our own shelves (thanks to YoungHouseLove & Ana-White.com) and installing them on a blank wall above our buffet (similar to the photo below.) And it's like someone over at Apartment Therapy had been mind-reading me with their helpful post, "How to Know if You're Ready for Open Shelving."

I passed the quiz, although the question about clutter has me doing some thinking...but you never know until you try, so we're pushing ahead full steam.  As for the rest of you joining the craze, I suggest you read this and decide if it's really something you can do especially if your plan involves removing existing cabinetry!
